The Brilliant, Sustainable Wines of Gala Winery [VIDEO]

When we first met Jaromir and Alzbeta Gala, we were struck by their quiet passion. Their family winery in the wine region of Moravia in the Czech Republic is one that lives and grows with intention. From the critical selection of the land where the vineyards are planted to the intentionality of creating their own ecosystem for animals, plants, soils, and humans, the Galas exhibit a natural elegance in everything they touch. Most of all - their wines!

Winemaker Jaromir Gala is well studied and has worked with many great winemakers across Europe. When embarking on his own, he selected each vineyard specifically for its terroir and potential. Most vineyards were fields or farmland when he purchased them. But he has cultivated the land and vineyards with his own unique style into nine hectares of quality vines.

Their vineyards are seated in the village of Bavory, at the foot of the Palava Hills rich with limestone. And hill may be a stretch - the highest peak is only 1800 feet.

We had the pleasure of discussing a few of the elegant Gala wines with John Sporing of A Life Well Drunk recently. So pour yourself a glass, and hit play below to watch the recording!

Na zdraví! (Cheers!)
